About the Course
Carcinoma of the breast is a type of cancer that originates in the cells of the breast tissue. It is one of the most common cancers affecting women, although men can also develop it. The most common form is invasive ductal carcinoma, which starts in the milk ducts and spreads to other parts of the breast tissue. Risk factors include age, family history, genetic mutations (e.g., BRCA1 and BRCA2), hormonal factors, and lifestyle choices such as diet and alcohol consumption. Molecular classification is essential for management of breast cancer. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal and targeted therapies, depending on the stage and type of carcinoma.
