Facility-Based Care of Sick Children (F-IMNCI) Digital Training

About the Course

Overview
Facility-based care of sick children digital training also known as F-IMNCI digital training is a skills-based training, which combines teaching sessions with hands-on practice through clinical sessions. The training package is largely based on the WHO ETAT 2016 Module, WHO guidelines for the management of sick children at District Hospitals (Blue Book), National Guidelines for management of common childhood illnesses, and Indian Academy of Paediatrics guidelines. The updated F-IMNCI training package provides standard guidelines for the management of common childhood illnesses in children aged 1 month to 5 years. This package follows an approach that starts with the identification and management of emergency signs and then a rational workup for determining the underlying disease condition and its management until the patient is discharged from the health facility.

Training methods
F-IMNCI digital training uses a blended learning approach that combines online self-learning (asynchronous sessions) followed by in-person contact for skill-building components. In this mode of training, traditional classroom teaching is replaced by virtual self-learning sessions. The digital content is interactive with audio-visual content suited to the level of health care providers by module reading, recorded lectures of experts, skill videos, and case studies. Enrolled participants also have the flexibility of completing assigned sections at their own time and pace. This model will help the participants with the cognitive (knowledge) component before they come to the clinical site for skill training. Practice at their own workplace is followed by a hands-on practice session in a training site (preferably a medical college setting) towards the end of training. F-IMNCI Digital training will not only reduce the cost of running the F- IMNCI course significantly, but will also reduce the number of days for which MOs/Staff Nurses will be required to leave their duty station.
