पाठ्यक्रम के बारे में

Diagnosis of birth asphyxia, a critical condition stemming from oxygen deprivation during childbirth, involves a series of assessments and tests by healthcare professionals. Initially, clinical signs like poor muscle tone, weak reflexes, and difficulty breathing indicate potential asphyxia. Apgar scores at one and five minutes after birth provide crucial insights into the newborn's condition, assessing heart rate, breathing effort, muscle tone, reflex irritability, and color. Blood tests measuring pH levels can reveal metabolic acidosis, a common consequence of oxygen deprivation. Additional imaging techniques such as MRI or ultrasound may be employed to assess any brain damage caused by the asphyxia. Collaborative efforts between obstetricians, pediatricians, and neonatologists ensure a timely and accurate diagnosis, crucial for initiating appropriate interventions to mitigate potential long-term effects.
