About the Course

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of enzyme classification, a fundamental aspect of biochemistry. Students will explore the necessity of a systematic classification system for enzymes and learn the seven enzyme classes established by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). Through this course, participants will learn to distinguish between oxidases, oxygenases, and dehydrogenases, recognize the class of common enzymes, and understand the significance of the Enzyme Commission (EC) numbers.
