About the Course
Surgery for inguinal hernia is one of the most common surgeries performed by the general surgeons. While open approach is still the most commonly used approach, laparoscopic hernia repair is gaining increased interest. Laparoscopic groin hernia repairs can be performed through total extraperitoneal (TEP) and transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) approaches. While open surgery is approached anteriorly, laparoscopic repairs are approached from the posterior side of the inguinal canal. Thorough knowledge of the posterior anatomy is essential to perform a laparoscopic repair. Through pictorial and video demonstration in this presentation we wish to enlighten the students regarding the laparoscopic TAPP repair for inguinal hernias
