About the Course
The Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA) 2017 is a right-based act that replaced the previous the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1987. It focusses on saving the autonomy and rights of individuals with mental illness rather than their institutionalization or custody as against MHA 1987. The course highlights some salient definitions, some unique features (namely advance directives, nominated representative), and procedure outlined for admission and discharge in the act.
