About the Course

The course titled SEMEN & SPERM consists of 4 parts beginning with first microteaching session on semen followed by sperm morphology and motility, sperm function tests and last session on semen analysis. This course is essential for undergraduates to understand the basics of semen analysis. First session on semen describes its cellular and acellular components that are contributed by testes, seminal vesicles, epididymis & prostate. It further explains process of liquefaction which is a pre-requisite for performing semen analysis. Next session discusses normal sperm morphology and different motility patterns that are assessed during semen analysis. Semen analysis gives an overview of the indications & parameters assessed. Sperm function tests explains principles of different tests that analyze sperm structure and fertilization events.
